Principle:- Potato infusion, serve as the source of all essential nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins, other trace factors which are essential for the growth of microbes and dextrose in it supply the C source and energy source fermenting microbes. Moreover the potato infusion encourages the sporulation and pigment production in some dermatophytes. The potato dextrose agar can be supplemented with the acid to reduce pH, or the antibiotics for inhibition of bacterial growth.

Use:- Recommended for the cultivation of yeasts, and moulds from clinical and non-clinical samples. Also, recommended for the plate count methods for the food, dairy products.

Principle And Interpretation

Buffered Peptone Water is a pre-enrichment medium designed to help recovery of sub-lethally damaged Salmonellae before transfer to a selective medium. This pre-enrichment medium is free from inhibitors and is well buffered and provides conditions for resuscitation of the cells that have been injured by processes of food preservation.

Warning and Precautions 

In Vitro diagnostic Use. Read the label before opening the container. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/ face protection. Follow good microbiological lab practices while handling specimens and culture. Standard precautions as per established guidelines should be followed while handling clinical specimens. Use : Recommended as a basal medium for microbiological assay of antibiotics. 

Directions : Dissolve 25.50 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Boil to dissolve the medium completely and sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121'C) for 15 min, cool it to 42-45 'C, and distribute aseptically in petri plates. Ensure complete solidification and aseptically add Antibiotic assay medium No.1 as seed agar, inoculated with the microbial culture.

Disposal : To avoid the contamination or propagation of any hazardous microbes the used, unusable or modified preparation of the product must be disposed after autoclaving or incineration after completion of task.

Expected Performance when stored at optimum conditions and within the expiry date. No liability accepted for accidents in handling or use.
